MP3 books are books that have been read aloud by an author or other person and then converted into a media file that you can play on your MP3 player or home computer.

They take up very little space as MP3 files and can be converted to a CD also. MP3 players hold an incredible amount of data and you can easily fit over 100 of them into a newer MP3 player.

You can purchase MP3 books online at all kinds of websites. You just need to know what you are looking for and what kind of price is reasonable for you. Many websites offer special deals or offers from time to time. The deals can vary. Sometimes there might be an "author of the week" or a buy one get one free deal. The best part of the MP3 format is that you can download it immediately and it takes very little time to finish depending on the speed of your internet connection. If you have dial-up, you will need to be pretty patient as that can take hours for a larger book but if you have a cable connection, it might take 5 minutes.

If you plan on listening to the MP3's on your computer, you should make sure that you have a fairly good speaker setup. The ones that come with your computer will work but to fully enjoy it you might consider a nice low cost surround sound system that you can listen to somewhere comfortable. Even better, if your computer has the hardware, burn them to a CD and listen to them in your home stereo system.

MP3's can be converted to DVDs, CDs, or even cassette tapes if you have the proper equipment. Most computers come with CD burners so all you have to do is burn it and throw it in your stereo. If your stereo is older, you might have to convert it into a different format but with a little looking around the internet, there are tons of free programs that will convert or even burn them for you. Many newer stereos, boom boxes, and car stereos let you use MP3's without the hassle of converting any files at all. This is much more convenient since you can just burn them and play them.

Unfortunately, MP3's can only be purchased online and you can't just go out and buy them. You will need to download all of them. It is a wonderful idea to burn them onto a re-burnable disk or create a couple copies of them somewhere in case your computer decides to malfunction or if you reformat. Most download sites keep a record for you so you can get it again if you accidentally delete it.
