Are Talking Books Just Another Term For
Audio Books?
Talking books are commonly called audio books. These are
full length books that are read aloud by the authors,
celebrities, or people hired to read them.
They can be on any subject that comes as a book. A good
example is books for kids that help them to read. They read
along with the book and it makes a chime when you are supposed
to turn the page. Audio books started becoming popular with
records many decades ago but boomed in the early 80's and again
in the 90's. As media became smaller and easily carried, the
audio book was much easier to get from place to place. Now,
with the MP3 player becoming more and more popular, you can fit
about 500 audio books onto something that weighs almost
nothing.
Audio books are great for people on the go, children, and
disabled people. Someone might have a great passion for reading
but have their eyesight start to fail as they get elderly. An
audio book might be a great gift to give to that person because
all they need to do is push play, sit back, and relax. Children
really benefit from them by reading along, and people who are
very busy and just don't have the time to sit down for a couple
hours and read.
When learning a foreign language, there are many audio books
that can make this a lot easier. Since you are hearing the
words and phrases being spoken, it should be much easier for
you to learn this material properly and with the right accent.
You could learn Spanish while you do your dishes or go for a
jog and always be able to jump in right where you left off.
There are many places to get audio books. You could go to
your local electronics store, bookstore, mall, or retailer and
see what's available. Online websites have a ton of information
and enormous catalogs of audio books you can buy and download.
If you are curious about audio books but don't want to risk
buying one, you could always go down to your local library and
borrow a couple that you think might be interesting. You can
get them on almost any subject you could imagine. Many audio
books have been dramatized so they have a full cast of people
playing all the parts and have sound effects added to make them
more fun. This is a good type to start with as you might be
able to relate more to the different characters and events that
are taking place.
It's nice if you like a certain celebrity and find the audio
books they have done.
